We are unsuspecting RV’ers. Spending our first ‘real winter’ in Portland, Oregon during 2011 – which really means ten months straight of unforgiving rain, gloomy skies and damp spirits, we decided to purchase a temporary escape method – via an Allegro Bus. New to this whole RV experience, we are learning through trial, tribulation, and a lot of error.
The bus itself is spacious enough. 40′ in length and four slides, which when extended, give the unit the feel of a small condo on wheels. We decided to remove the washer and dryer and instead put in a mini wine cellar, as doing laundry is a bit over-rated and the wine certainly comes in handy.
Not quite yet at retirement age, we are juggling being on the road with our work schedules, not to mention keeping our travel companions — our Chocolate Labrador, Kooper and disgruntled cat, Mr. Woogs — happy at all times. This combination makes for very entertaining journeys.
As Mark Twain once said, “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
And that’s what we’re going to do. Just with better wine.
